UPM has built a 2.1 million tonne greenfield eucalyptus pulp mill near Paso de los Toros in central Uruguay. Besides the mill, the total investment of USD 3.47 billion also includes a pulp terminal in the port of Montevideo as well as investments in local facilities in Paso de los Toros.

The M/V Saga Faith, carrying about 50,000 tonnes of UPM Euca, departed end May of 2023 from UPM’s new deep sea pulp terminal in Montevideo, Uruguay, and arrived in the Xilian port of Qingdao, China, on 14th July, 22023. The shipment marked the inaugural delivery from the UPM Paso de los Toros pulp mill – the company’s largest ever investment – which commenced operations in April 2023.
